'We are all deeply proud of her' - Tinubu hails Hilda Baci

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Hilda Effiong Bassey for breaking the record for breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time on Monday, May 15.

The 27-year-old chef and entrepreneur exceeded the record of 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds set by Chef Lata Tondon in Rewa, India, in 2019.

The event, which is taking place at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos had many Nigerians defying the rain to cheer up the chef.

Bola Tinubu who had in an earlier post in his Instagram story urged her on congratulated her in her latest feat.

He said: "I congratulate Hilda Effiong Bassey on her record-breaking achievement. It was a remarkable display of the Nigerian can-do attitude and the spirit of excellence that lies within. We are all deeply proud of her."

President Buhari in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said lauded the young culinary expert for turning her talent and passion into a career, with a rippling effect on the economy as she runs a restaurant in Lagos, trains other talents on entrepreneurship, and now leads the world in resilience, perseverance, and consistency in cooking.”

The restaurateur began the competition on Thursday after she turned on her cooker at 4pm.

The chef won the maiden edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, pocketing a grand prize of $5000.

The Guinness Book of Records is a reference book that contains human and natural world records.

It was first published in 1955 by the Guinness Brewery in Ireland and has since become one of the world’s most well-known and frequently read reference books.

Individuals or groups must submit proof to the Guinness World Records team and go through a verification process to qualify for a world record listing.
