The presidential campaign convoy of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was attacked on Thursday, November 5, 2026, during a campaign stop in Kebbi State.

The violent incident unfolded as the motorcade was navigating through the state for scheduled campaign engagements. Suspected political hoodlums intercepted the convoy, pelting vehicles with stones and directly targeting the media team following the candidate.

According to official reports from the ADC campaign organization, the assailants intentionally focused their assault on the press crew, smashing expensive broadcasting and recording gear.

"Most of the gadgets belonging to the camera and video crew were destroyed in the attack. Cameras, video equipment, tripods and other working tools were smashed, leaving the crew unable to continue live coverage of the campaign," the campaign team revealed.

Members of the campaign trail denounced the ambush, labeling the attackers "sponsored thugs" deployed to intimidate supporters and block press coverage of the turnouts in Kebbi State.

"The thugs did not come to steal. They came to destroy. They targeted our cameras and video crew because they did not want Nigerians to see what is happening here in Kebbi," a campaign official stated.

The attack in Kebbi adds to growing political tensions across the country as campaigns heat up ahead of the 2027 general elections. Security agencies are expected to investigate the incident.
