A video of former President Olusegun Obasanjo showing how strong he is on the treadmill is making rounds.

This occurred while Obasanjo was on a courtesy visit to the Abia State Governor, to commend him for assenting to the Abia State of Nigeria Governors and Deputy Governors Pension Repeal Law.

The former President met Otti at the gym working out in Nvosi Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, when he suddenly jumped on the treadmill to do some exercise.

In the video, the 87-year-old former military leader engaged in some stunts as he stood in the air and also ran on the treadmill. Although this would not be the first time he's exercising in public.

His move shocked many who were present including Governor Otti who was filled with smiles as he clapped his hands.

Obasanjo praised Otti for his good works as Governor of the state and admonished him to remain diligent and pay attention to infrastructure.

“I saw the repeal of Abia pensions of former governors; you said to me that the pension scheme for former governors here is too outrageous.

“It allows them to have a house in Abuja and elsewhere, and it allows them to cart away with whatever they can.

“Yet the pensions of ordinary people from 2014 are unpaid and you came and said there will be an end to that rascality.

“I congratulate you and I hope that your colleagues will follow in your footsteps.

“You have started well, but you should never be tired nor discouraged, because you will be abused and you will be called names.

"If we have 1/3 of the states doing what you're doing, this country will become a different country. And you are doing what should be done.

I will urge you to pay adequate attention to infrastructure because if you give infrastructure and you give the type of leadership you are giving now, people of this state will have nothing to worry about.

On their own, they are enterprise people so all they need is the leadership that will give them encouragement," he said.
