Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface found his goalscoring boots after scoring a brilliant goal for Bayer Leverkusen against Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly.

The Nigerian international came off the bench to score the winner as Leverkusen beat the Premier League side 2-1.

Boniface displayed sheer quality after beating his marker with a lovely dummy before finding the back of the net.

The superb finish from the 25-year-old earned plaudits from Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.

“He scored a fantastic goal. We’re very happy for Boni that he managed to score in front of such a crowd,” he told BILD.

“When the opponent blocks like that and then makes that movement inside, that’s quality. And when the opponent doesn’t block, he blasts the ball towards goal with incredible speed.”

Rolfes believes Boniface's incredible move could be a positive sign of the player rediscovering his old form at the club.

“The fact that he’s capable of those kinds of moves again is a positive development,” he added.

Boniface spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen after his move to AC Milan collapsed.
