Warri fire render many homeless

A raging fire has rendered all occupants of a storey building along First Marine Gate in Warri, Delta State homeless.

MyNigeria gathered that the fire was caused by an unidentified person who set fire to a refuse dump at 4:30pm.

Flames were aided by the harmattan wind, which extended the fire to a nearby shanty and the storey building, very close to it.

Efforts to quell the fire failed as some occupants of the building were yet to return from the yuletide celebrations, MyNigeria learnt.

When contacted, the Delta State Fire Service said their truck was faulty.

Reacting to the incident, Vice-Chairman of Warri South council area, Mrs Divine Iniovosa said it was an unfortunate incident.
