The salaries of Nigeria's Senators representing the 109 senatorial districts across the country have emerged following the strike action by the various labor unions.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) began an indefinite strike on Monday, June 3 to force the government to agree on a new minimum wage for workers as well as review the increase in the price of electricity for some consumers.

Monday’s agreement was signed by the President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero; his counterpart in the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Festus Osifo; the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, and the Minister of Labour, Nkiruka Onyejeocha.

While the conversation on wages persists, a breakdown of salaries and allowances earned by the Senators has generated angry reactions. Their remuneration has always been of great concern to Nigerians.

The X handle of the Nigeria Labour Congress shared an image of the earnings of Senators with the caption: "Can They deny this???? Nigeria Workers deserve Better, A living Wage is Possible."

@StatiSense in a 2023 post also revealed the total salary and allowance of a Nigerian senator is N29.48m monthly.

The breakdown shows that the basic salary is N2.48m while furniture allowance - N7.45m, accommodation - N4.97m and constituency allowance - N4.97m
