WAFCON 2024: Michelle Alozie makes honest admission after South Africa clash

Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has admitted to the tough test Nigeria faced against South Africa in the semifinal of the Women's African Cup of Nations.

Nigeria edged Banyana Banyana 2–1 in a keenly contested game at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Tuesday, July 22.

Super Falcons skipper Rasheedat Ajibade gave coach Justine Madugu's side the lead from the spot in the first half before Banyana Banyana equalized after the interval.

Michelle Alozie later grabbed the winner from a set piece to give the nine-time holders the deserved victory.

In a post-match reaction, Alozie admitted that the Falcons faced a difficult test against Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

“This was the first game that it took everything for us to regroup and realise we had to finish the game in 90 minutes.

"We were just relentless and made sure we gave everything in those 90 minutes,” Alozie said after the game.

Nigeria will now have a shot at their 10th title when they take on hosts Morocco in the grand finale on Saturday, July 26.
