A video showing a derailed passenger train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna on Tuesday morning has emerged on social media.

The video, which has now gone viral showed several carriages overturned, triggering panic among those on board.

According to Arise News, the incident occurred along the popular corridor shortly after the train departed Abuja around 11 a.m., en route to Kaduna.

The report further indicated that the accident left chaotic scenes as passengers scrambled for their safety in fear and confusion.

Reasons for the derailment remain unclear as officicials are yet to confirmed injuries or casulties.

The Punch report that the military have since deployed to the scene to assisting the stranded passengers.

The incident has since generated reactions on social media.
