Video of Senate President announcing token for lawmakers to enjoy their holiday sparks reactions

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has received knock from Nigerians after he announced that money has been sent to the lawmakers bank accounts for enjoyment as they embark on their holiday.

On Monday, August 7, Akpabio during plenary revealed that the national assembly would be going on a two-months recess till September 26th, 2023.

In his announcement, he revealed that there is a token made available to the lawmakers to enable them enjoy their holiday away from the Senate.

Moment after making the comment, the Senate President realised that plenary was live on national television and immediately withdrew his announcement and adjusted his comment.

He said; "In other to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the national assembly. I will withdraw that statement; in other to allow you enjoy your holiday, the Senate President has sent prayers to your mail boxes to assist you on your safe journey and return."

This has since gone viral and sparked massive reactions from Nigerians.
