A video of Nigerians queuing to purchase fuel 30 years ago has surfaced coinciding with the current fuel price hike across the country.

In the 30-year-old video, Nigerians were seen lamenting their predicament as citizens waiting in long queues with their gallons to buy fuel.

Currently, the country is facing fuel scarcity and price hike, with fuel being sold at N900 in most states. This has affected the price of goods in the nation.

Nigerians began to express concern after President Bola Tinubu removed fuel subsidies during his inauguration ceremony on May 29, 2023.

Several citizens have called on the government to address the ongoing challenges in the country.

Nigerians have taken to social media to share their opinions on the issue plaguing the nation.

@peter_ameh: Patterns dont lie

@JWEZEE: Honestly we all are liable for this mess. Until we all come “United” together regardless of tribe and religion it will continue. One voice will choose the right leader. Do not sell your vote and do not choose based on “he’s our brother”.
The will power starts with each one of us!
God Bless Nigeria

@ChukwuemekeOny2: And that's because we are recycling our leaders instead of changing the structure. We keep looking on to the next election after being robbed of our votes in a previous one. We live in the hope of changing our leaders to no avail. Not knowing that leadership is not the problem but the political structure is..... which is the foundation of all things, including leadership. Leaders are a product of the structure. They are the product of the system. Change the system, and then your leaders will change. If regions begin to govern themselves, Nigeria will be better. Here, I talked extensively about it.

@simpleiykejnr: This is a country that’s blessed with natural crude oil. We Nigerians are cowards and not ready for good governance.

@elehooflagos: This is what happen when we keep recycling same people to rule

@davidoghe: De javu is a common occurrence in Nigeria but let's leave that aside
Did you notice her accent? That's a proper Nigerian accent

@Gretesetukudo: This is so heartbreaking especially if you were here and experienced what happened during the elections

@ehimaggie: This is Ikeja Along. 30 years later we r still at it!
Wonderful!

@McBluetoothCCFR: In Nigeria History always repeats itself because we fail to learn from our mistakes or grow past frivolities of religion ethnicity and bigotry. We are doomed for failure because we celebrate mediocrity
