Video of Godwin Emefiele getting arrested at the airport by DSS operatives

A video of suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Securities has emerged.

In the video Emefiele was spotted at the airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country.

The CBN Governor was ordered out of the car and taken away by the DSS operatives.

This comes after the President, Bola Tinubu suspended the Governor. It was revealed that Emefiele was suspended over cases related to the naira redesign that almost truncated the presidential elections.

Confirming his arrest, the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya said the embattled suspended CBN Governor is now in their custody for “investigative reasons”.

The statement read;

“EMEFIELE, NOW IN DSS CUSTODY

The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.

The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.
