Video of APC national chair Ganduje, Mariya Bunkure mocking Maryam Shetty over ministerial nomination

A video has emerged of the new ministerial nominee Dr. Mariya Bunkure, present at the APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje's house to thank him for her nomination.

This comes shortly after President Tinubu withdraw Maryam Shetty from the list and replaced her with Dr. Mariya Bunkure moments before she would be screened by the Senate.

In the viral video shared on Twitter by @LeadershipNGA, the All Progressives Congress national chairman, Ganduje and his wife, Prof. Hafsat Ganduje received the new nominee at his house alongside other guests.

Mariya has been reported to have been the commissioner for higher education in Kano State under former Governor Ganduje during his second term as Governor.

However, during the courtesy visit, Ganduje and his guests were heard in the video mocking Maryam Shetty after President Tinubu withdraw her name from the list.

In the video which has now been deleted by @LeadshipNGA, a woman wa heard in the background saying in Hausa language that “the head has now fit the cap”.

She continued, “When we heard that they brought one Maryam, Maryam who?”, to which another voice replied “Shetty”.

At this point, Bunkure, Hafsat Ganduje (popularly referred to as Gwaggo) and Ganduje were captured in the video laughing.

“I said who is Shetty? We were confused, I said from where is she from? They said Kano,” the first speaker continued.

In another video, Ganduje, who said, “I want them to call out Gwaggo again. They have opened a new chapter of ignorance. We are thankful this one (referring to Bunkure) has joined the caucus.”

The video circulated hours after Shetty had taken to her Facebook page to express her gratitude to President Tinubu for acknowledging her capabilities.

She added that although this may seem as a setback, "the best is yet to come".

However, some Nigerians have taken to social media to express their disappointment at Ganduje over his actions.

The same Maryam that laboured in APC since 2015, Ganduje is now denying just to satisfy Gwaggo’s interest. Shame!
