Kenyan footballer, Victor Wanyama has left London club side Tottenham Hotspur for a new challenge in Canada after signing for Thiery Henry's Montreal Impact.

Wanyama signed a three-year contract with the Major League Soccer club as a "designated player", BBC reports.

The former Southampton midfielder joined Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino in 2016, leaving four years later.

Wanyama will be the fourth first-team player to depart form Tottenham after Kieran Trippier, Christian Eriksen and Danny Rose.

He scored six goals in 69 appearances for Spurs and was a regular at some point but lost his place to injury.

The side, managed by Arsenal great Henry, said in a statement said it would confirm the acquisition after receiving Wanyama's international transfer certificate and his medical examination result.

Wanyama said when Henry called him to join Montreal Impact he was excited to work with him and hoped to make a difference.
