Odion Ighalo joined Manchester United in January from Chinese side Shanghai
Victor Ezeji has slammed Ole Solskjaer for not giving the Nigerian enough chance
Ighalo did not start any game for Manchester United last season in the Premier League
Nigerian football legend Victor Ezeji has expressed disappointed over Manchester United coach Ole Solskjaer not giving Odion Ighalo enough chance to play at Old Trafford.
Manchester United signed Odion Ighalo in January this year from Shanghai Shenhua as a replacement for Marcus Rashford who was injured then.
The arrival of the former Super Eagles striker raised eyebrow at Old Trafford, but Odion Ighalo proved himself to Manchester United coach Solskjaer and fans.
Odion Ighalo scored five goals for Manchester United in eight games in the Europa League and FA Cup to the delight of the club's fans.
But despite that form, the Nigerian did not play more than 20 minutes for Manchester United in any Premier League game.
Solskjaer decided to keep faith on Anthony Martial and the return of Marcus Rashford also affected Odion Ighalo in starting any Premier League game.
“But where I will fault Ole is that even when these guys are not meeting up in some games, I think he should have tried Ighalo.
“It wasn’t really nice that a player’s contract was renewed and you didn’t even allow him to play up to 20 minutes of any Premier League game.
''That is not encouraging. It makes a player lose all the confidence he has built over time.
“Ighalo had to cut down his wages just to be in Manchester. I think he has achieved his dream of playing for them, but now it’s for him to look elsewhere,'' Victor Ezeji explained to GOAL.
