The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has increased the wage of the live band that always sings his praises at events he hosts.

This was after the band sang in the Chinese language to the pleasure of some Chinese contractors during the inauguration of Collector Road in Mabushi to the Judges' quarters in Kitampe.

The band, popularly known as Wike's band, accompanies the minister to every event, dating back to when he was the Governor of Rivers State.

The band rose to prominence during the 2023 presidential election campaign due to their sharp criticisms of opposition politicians.
