The Kano State government on Monday revealed why it deposed the immediate past Emir of Kano, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.

According to reports, the Kano state government lead by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje dethroned the Emir for alleged insubordination.

In a statement read by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman, the government said, "The Emir of Kano is in total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the state Governor and other lawful authorities, including his persistent refusal to attend official meetings and programmes organised by the Government without any lawful justification which amounts to total insubordination."
