In a video that has since gone viral, the man wearing a white attire was seen weeping and rolling in the mud as onlookers gathered around.
While people begged the unnamed lady to rescind her decision and accept the proposal, others say the man in question should be wary of the shame he is likely to bring upon himself.
According to reports, the incident happened inside a market in Owerri, Imo state.
The video has generated a host of comments on social media after it was posted.
"Don’t date who is not dating you, Warning!" a user wrote.
Another user with the handle @adesola8772, said: "Guy na you dey disgrace yourself with all this public stunt you people dey always do....no be by force just stop this rubbish"
