Personal assistant to the president on New Media, Bashir Ahmad has reacted to a report by a national daily that an Abuja bound train from Kaduna was attacked by gunmen.

The national daily, Vanguard, had reported that the train came under attack from men suspected to be kidnappers.

According to Vanguard, a passenger on the train told them that the train came under what he called “ballistic projectiles attack” but no passenger was hurt in the incidence.

However, Bashir Ahmad who reacted to the report labeled it as "100% fake".

He tweeted: "Dear @vanguardngrnews, kindly, especially for such very sensitive stories, investigate intensively and rigorously. You are a National Newspaper with millions readers, defend your reputation. Reached out to the management of Abuja-Kaduna Train Service, this news is 100% fake".

He added: "The management said one of the windows of their 10AM train from KD to Abuja was hit by a stone threw by a village boy and such incident is not new, and they already engaged security to collaborate with the heads of the villages along the train track to prevent future occurrences".

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director, Public Relations of the National Railway Corporation, NRC, Mr. Mahmood Yakub, who spoke with Daily Trust, blamed mischiefmakers, saying “This is a complete fake news. Nobody attacked the train of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) between Abuja and Kaduna.

“This is a calculated attempt by mischief makers to scare away our esteemed passengers. We see this as a grand plot to sabotage the feats and achievements of the NRC.”
