Reports indicate that there is chaos in Rivers State after Governor Sim Fubara ordered the Local Government chairmen to vacate their offices following the expiration of their tenure on June 17, 2024.

In a broadcast on Tuesday morning, June 18, the governor ordered the Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) to immediately take charge of the LGA Councils henceforth while thanking the outgoing LGA Chairmen for their service.

However, there was resistance by some LGA Chairmen loyal to former governor Nyesom Wike as they attempted to enter the local government council headquarters with policemen.

The Rivers youths backed by security officers put up fierce resistance and chased away the Pro-Wike former LGA Chairmen, destroying their pictures and emblems in the process.

In a video that has emerged the former Mayor of Port Harcourt City Allwell Ihunda and his security were seen running after the youths.

Another video is making rounds of some youths destroying the statue of the former Rivers State Governor Nyseom Wike who is also the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory at the headquarters of Obino/Akpor Local Government Council.
