Umahi suspends commissioner

The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, has approved the indefinite suspension of Clement Nweke, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, with immediate effect.

A statement by Secretary to the State Government, Ugbala Igwe, directed the commissioner to hand over all governmental property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior officer in the ministry before the close of work on Wednesday.

The statement reads in part, “His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr David Nweze Umahi, has approved the indefinite suspension of Hon. Clement Nweke as Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development with immediate effect. The indefinite suspension is as a result of insubordination.”
