Francis Nwaze, an aide to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged former vice president Atiku Abubakar to resign as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress.
This was after Atiku called for Umahi's resignation following the death of a lady, Mary Habila, in his house.
Atiku called for Umahi's resignation to enable transparency in the probe of the lady's death.
Reacting, Umahi's aide urged Atiku to, as a matter of urgency, resign from the ADC and step aside from any presidential contest under the party pending the resolution of all legal matters concerning its status.
He said, "Doing so would allow the relevant authorities and the courts to address these issues without any perception of political interference or undue influence.
"Until the legal questions surrounding the ADC, including allegations relating to the use of a name said to have already been registered, are conclusively determined by the courts, he should refrain from presenting himself as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
"As the saying goes, he who comes to equity must come with clean hands."
