US imposes visa restrictions on 'troublemakers' during Nigeria's elections

The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken has disclosed that the country has imposed visa restrictions on some individuals who frustrated the democratic process of Nigeria's 2023 elections.

He made this known via a tweet on Monday, May 15, 2023.

According to him, this is a move by America to support the goals of Nigeria and strengthen democracy in the West-African country.

Antony wrote: "We have imposed visa restrictions on specific individuals who undermined the democratic process during Nigeria’s 2023 elections. We remain committed to supporting Nigerian aspirations to strengthen democracy and rule of law."

He however has not revealed the list or names of those who will be facing the visa restrictions.
