UNLOCKDOWN: We are entering a dangerous phase, Shina Peller warns

As Nigeria, particularly Lagos, Ogun and Abuja, prepare for lockdown relaxation from Monday, May 4, Honourable Shina Peller has warmed Nigerians of the danger that lies ahead.

As of today, the country has recorded an alarming rise in cases to 1,728 infections and 51 deaths, according to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control.

With work partially resuming on Monday, Mr. Peller has urged Nigerians to take safety measures to avoid contracting the virus.

Speaking on his official Twitter handle, he reminded that the country has experienced community transmission and now more than ever, everyone needs to be safe.

He also urged the use of protective equipment such as face mask and washing of hands as well as maintenance of social distancing.

"We need to be careful, now more than ever. There is now community transmission and we are entering a dangerous phase next week with the #Unlockdown as everyone troops on Monday. Please wear a face mask and maintain social distancing. Don’t touch your face and wash your hands!" he said.

After a five-week lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja, the nationwide 8am - 6pm, curfew begins on Monday, as announced by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd.), during his national address, last Monday.

This will give room for some businesses to operate in line with the directives set by each state government curb the spread of the pandemic in Nigeria.

Kano State has been excluded from the relaxation, as it will be on total lockdown for two weeks, due to the bizarre deaths occurring in the state and as well, to curb COVID-19.
