A lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt has been caught on camera sexually harassing a female student.

In the video that has now gone viral, the lecturer was seen attempting to caress the female student who also fought back his advances.

The lecturer who couldn't be identified at the time of filing the report groped her breast as the student tried to keep her distance from him.

The video has generated several reactions on social media.

Lecturers making sexual demands on students in some of Nigeria's top universities have been normalized, however, the act was exposed by BBC Africa Eye 'sex-for-grades' documentary released in 2019.

The documentary indicted Boniface Igbeneghu, a University of Lagos lecturer who was caught on film propositioning and sexually harassing an undercover BBC reporter who posed as a student at the time.

He was one of several academics secretly filmed as part of a year-long investigation by BBC Africa Eye.

The film sparked widespread social media comment, and explored alleged sexual harassment by members of staff at two top West African universities.
