Turkish football transfer expert Süleyman Rodop has revealed that Victor Osimhen received painkiller injections in order to play against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen scored the only goal as the Turkish giants secured a 1–0 victory over the Reds at Rams Park on Tuesday, September 30.
The Super Eagles striker’s 16th-minute spot-kick was all the Yellow and Reds needed to return to winning ways in the Champions League.
It was Osimhen’s first appearance since sustaining an ankle injury while on international duty with Nigeria in early September.
Rodop disclosed that the Nigerian forward insisted on playing, despite the injury, and took painkillers to make it onto the pitch.
“Victor Osimhen played the Liverpool match with painkiller injections,” Rodop was quoted as saying by Habersarikirmizi.
“A day before the match, he said, ‘I have to play in this match. I will play with injections if necessary.’
“Whether Victor Osimhen will play in the Beşiktaş match will be determined in a day or two.”
