Two Nigerians, Sunday Okerie and Januarous Ezeikwe, have been arrested alongside another non-Nigerian during a Houston Police Department (HPD) operation targeting pr+stitution in Southwest Houston, Texas.
On September 28, 2026, HPD’s Vice Division conducted a proactive prostitution operation in the area, resulting in the arrest of three individuals for felony prostitution as buyers.
The police announced the arrests on October 2, stating: “On September 28, HPD Vice Division conducted a proactive prostitution operation in Southwest Houston, resulting in the arrest of three individuals for felony prostitution (buyer).”
Okerie and Ezeikwe were reportedly arrested for alleged solicitation of prostitution, an offence covered under Section 43.021 of Texas law.
The law states that a person commits an offence if they knowingly offer or agree to pay a fee to another person for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct.
A first offence can attract 180 days to two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000, while a second offence carries two to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
Reports say Okerie and Ezeikwe could therefore face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, depending on the category of the alleged offences.
