After picking up an injury that saw him ruled out of Tuesday’s international friendly against Algeria, Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong, has wished his teammates all the best game against the Desert Foxes, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Watford defender picked up the unfortunate injury in last Friday’s 2-2 draw against Algeria Team B at the Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium in Constantine.

The Nigeria Football Federation on Saturday confirmed that Troost-Ekong had picked up an injury and would not be available for their second game during the international break.

“William Troost-Ekong has left the camp as a result of an injury cropped during the test game yesterday (Friday). He is back to base for further checks. Wishing you a speedy recovery Ekong,” the statement reads.

The defender, on Sunday, wrote on his Twitter handle he had returned to England and wished the team luck.

“Unfortunately I picked up something in our game against Algeria last Friday. Back home now to sort it out. All the best to the boys on Tuesday.”

The warm-up game between the two AFCON champions comes up on September 27, and it’s billed for the 40,000-capacity Miloud Hadefi Stadium in Oran.
