Tribunal sacks Kano Gov Yusuf, declares APC’s Gawuna winner

Report indicate that the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, as the governor of Kano state.

The court declared the Nasir Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the March 18 governorship election.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Yusuf, as the winner of the election.

However, after a petition was filed to the Tribunal, a three-man panel on Wednesday ordered INEC to withdraw the certificate of return presented to Governor Yusuf.

The court directed the electoral body to issue the certificate of return to Gawuna.

It was gathered that the court deducted 165,663 votes from Gov Yusuf’s total adding that the ballot papers (165,663) were not stamped or signed and therefore are declared invalid votes.
