Tribunal resumes hearing Saturday to decide on schedule, witnesses

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has resumed hearing today, May 20 to decide on the number of witnesses and the schedule ahead of the main petition.

According to report, Atiku Abubakar challenging Bola Tinubu’s victory, intends to present about 100 witnesses during the hearing of the petition. Also It plans to complete presenting their case within three weeks.

Lawyer representing Bola Tinubu, Roland Otaru, said that his client plans to bring forward 39 witnesses and plan to conclude their portion of the case within nine days.

INEC’s lawyer, Abubakar Mahmoud, said it will present two witnesses during the hearing of Atiku/PDP's petition challenging the outcome of the election.

According to a report by Channels Television, the tribunal is set to streamline the hearing procedure for the petitions of the PDP and the Labour Party.

Both the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party are contesting the victory of Bola Tinubu, the president-elect as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Present at today’s hearing at the appeal court in Abuja are Labour Party officials, including the presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and lawyers and members of the PDP.
