Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli have expressed interest in signing Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
This development comes shortly after reports emerged that the same club offered Ndidi’s compatriot, Victor Osimhen, a mouth-watering €30 million per year in a four-year deal to lure the Napoli striker to the Middle East.
Ndidi, whose contract with the East Midlands outfit was renewed last summer, has become a top target for Al-Ahli as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new Saudi league campaign.
The Nigerian international played a key role in Leicester’s promotion back to the Premier League but was unable to help the Foxes retain their top-flight status, with the club returning to the EFL Championship.
Despite renewing his contract, Ndidi has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium to avoid another relegation battle. Crystal Palace have previously emerged as one of the potential suitors.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old has continued to attract interest from clubs across Europe and Asia, thanks to his consistent top-level performances for the Foxes.
According to Arriyadiyah, Ndidi’s agent confirmed Al-Ahli’s interest and indicated that discussions could begin soon.
Earlier, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Al-Ahli representatives were set to meet with Osimhen's camp to convince the 26-year-old to make a big-money switch to Saudi Arabia.
However, that move seems unlikely for Osimhen, who reportedly prefers a transfer to a top European club over a Middle Eastern adventure.
Ndidi, on the other hand, may be open to a move to Asia, with the chance to cash in on a lucrative offer, rather than play in the English second tier next season.
