Chelsea's bid to complete their first summer signing has been dealt a big blow following the collapse of Jamie Gittens' transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
The Blues attempted to sign the 20-year-old ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup which kicks off this weekend.
Chelsea and Dortmund were unable to reach an agreement after the Blues saw their £42million offer rejected by the Bundesliga giants.
The first summer transfer window closed around 7 pm on Tuesday, June 10.
According to Sky Sports, the Blues will attempt to sign Gittens for a second time when the window reopens next week.
Reports indicate that Dortmund are demanding a fee around the region of £55m [€65m] for the winger.
