Tottenham approach ex-coach, Pochettino, with pay cut on severance

Tottenham chief, Daniel Levy, has approached sacked coach Mauricio Pochettino with a potential pay cut due to the financial effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the club's termination of the Argentine's contract, an agreement between both parties will see Pochettino earn £8.5million annual wages as part of the severance package.

SPurs placed Poch on a severance package which will last until he gets a new managerial job but die to then pandemic that halted footballing activities, the 42-year old will remain on Spurs' payroll and as such, Levy will be hoping he agrees to the approach.

The Sun reports that Spurs have begun talks with Pochettino and the measures will also be extended to the club's former backroom staff as the North London side look to cut costs wherever possible.

Since placing all 550 non-playing directors and employees of the club, including himself, on a 20% pay cut, Levy is hoping to extend the gesture (10% salary slash) to Jose Mourinho and his players.

Jose replaced Poch om a four and half year deal after the former Southampton manager was axed last November.
