On August 4, 2026, beautiful Nigerian actress cum film producer, Tope Osoba, passed away. Her death comes after she survived a two-year-long battle with breast cancer.

Exactly 19 days later, veteran actor cum film producer, Taiwo Babatunde Hassan, aka Ogogo, also passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The two deaths in Nollywood in the span of 20 days have left the industry mourning and practitioners recalling good moments with the deceased make-believe stars.

One common factor that unites the two deaths is cancer – while Ogogo died after a battle with stage four cancer, Osoba battled and survived breast cancer before her eventual death a year later.

However, unlike Osoba, who solicited public funds to battle cancer, Ogogo’s children announced that he battled stage four cancer and they sought better care; hence, resorting to informing the public to get better care in his dying days.

While controversy over the actual death of Osoba remains a mystery as a date is set for her burial, Ogogo’s death was clear, and the cause of death further struck a painful chord in many of his family members, colleagues, friends, associates and fans.

In the same vein, family members and friends failed to reveal what type of cancer killed Ogogo, but it was publicly revealed that the very busty Osoba battled breast cancer and survived it after treatment.

With a 26 years age difference between Ogogo, 66, and Osoba, 40, the two film stars and producers reigned supreme at different times on the film scene. Ogogo and Osoba both built extensive careers within Yoruba cinema and shared credits in collaborative projects, such as the traditional film ‘Olowo Ake.’ Ogogo also featured in over a thousand roles, including Tade Ogidan’s ‘Owo Blow,’ Tunde Kelani’s ‘Saworo Ide,’ and Netflix’s ‘Aníkúlápó’, while Osoba gained prominence through her breakthrough roles in hit films such as ‘Oogun Mi,’ ‘Gucci Girls,’ and ‘Igboro Ti Daru.’
