Alhaji Aminu Nuhu Jahun, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Northwest Ex-Officio member, has recently dumped the party.

His resignation came in response to a one-month suspension handed down by the Jigawa state working committee of the PDP.

A PDP national officer confirmed Jahun’s departure and shed light on the circumstances surrounding his suspension, Nigerian Tribune reported.

It appears that the catalyst for Jahun’s suspension was his attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano state governor representing the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has addressed concerns among its supporters regarding the possible defection of Rabiu Kwankwaso, their presidential candidate, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The apprehension arose after Kwankwaso met with President-elect Bola Tinubu in Paris, France.

The spokesperson of the NNPP, Dr Major Agbo, held a press conference in Abuja to alleviate fears and affirm that there was no cause for alarm.

In another report, the governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed, was elected the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum.

Governor Bala’s emergence was announced on Saturday, June 3, by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state at the stakeholder’s retreat of the elected PDP Governors, members-elect of the NASS held in Bauchi state.

Fintiri, briefing journalists at the event, disclosed that the prominent chieftains of the party attended the retreat to deliberate on critical issues concerning the party and the ongoing presidential election petition tribunal.
