The majority leader of the upper legislative chamber, Opeyemi Bamidele, has said that President Bola Tinubu sleeps well because Godswill Akpabio is the President of the Senate.

Bamidele made this statement at an event hosted by spokespersons of senators in Abuja to mark Akpabio’s 62nd birthday on Monday, December 9.

He expressed his admiration for Akpabio, adding that the entire Senate is proud of him. Bamidele stated that on behalf of the Senate, they appreciate his leadership.

The Senate majority leader said, “I know one of the reasons he (Tinubu) is able to sleep well is because he has you (Akpabio) as the president of the Senate. He trusts you, he depends on you. Mr President of the Senate, we are all very proud of you. I’m standing with my colleagues. I’m always privileged to speak on their behalf and I know I’m not saying anything other than what they expect me to say. We are very proud of you. We just want to thank you for who you are and we want to thank you for the kind of leadership that you provide.”

Another Senator, Lere Oyewumi, also took to his social media page to extend his well wishes to Akpabio as he turns a year older.

In the heartfelt message, he wrote, “Birthday Wishes to the President of the Senate, @NGRSenate

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, on your 62nd birthday. Along with all Nigerians and well-wishers around the globe, I celebrate this special day with you. Your leadership has consistently focused on progress and a genuine understanding of the needs of our citizens. From your tenure as Governor of Akwa Ibom State to your current position as President of the Senate.
