Bola Tinubu, President-elect Bola Tinubu, President-elect

President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been reported to have set up reconciliation committees to meet with aggrieved opposition parties.

According to the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu has set up committees to reconcile his camp with his challengers who lost to him in last Saturday’s presidential election.

He made this known after Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress was declared winner of the election on Wednesday, March 1, by the Independent National Electoral Commission chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Tinubu was announced the president-elect of Nigeria after he polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who scored 6,984,520 and Peter Obi of the Labour Party having scored 6,101,533 votes.

The 70-year-old former Lagos state Governor came out top in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states and secured significant numbers in several other states to claim the highest number of votes.

The opposition parties have hinted plans to seek legal redress as they believe the election was flawed.

Reacting to the reconciliation committee, some supporters of the opposition parties refusing the move.
