Tinubu's camp afraid of Obi than Atiku - Kayode Ogundamisi

Political commentator Kayode Ogundamisi has said President Bola Tinubu's camp is afraid of Peter Obi clinching the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

MyNigeria reported that Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election, recently joined the ADC.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is expected to fight for the party's ticket against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar

Both men lost to Tinubu in the 2023 election, with Atiku coming second while Obi came third.

Rumours have it that Obi may likely become Atiku's running mate in 2027. Both men ran in the same format on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019, losing to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

Despite them appearing to stand a better chance as running mates in 2027, Ogundamisi believes an Obi ticket seems scary to the Tinubu camp.

He shared on X, "The only way Peter Obi can secure the ADC presidential ticket is through a consensus arrangement or if Atiku steps down. Clearly, Atiku appears to have taken control of the majority of the party’s structures. An Atiku candidacy would be celebrated in the Tinubu camp. Despite all the rhetoric and mockery, Peter Obi is the one the Tinubu camp truly fear."
