Paul Ibe, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has slammed presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, for creating a similarity between the reward received by the Super Falcons and that to be received by the winner of the 2025 BBNaija reality TV show.
MyNigeria reported that the Super Falcons players were each rewarded with $100k and houses for winning the 2025 WAFCON, beating host country Morocco.
After the win, Onanuga expressed displeasure that the reward given to the players by President Bola Tinubu was being faulted by the opposition.
Reacting, Atiku's aide slammed Onanuga, reminding him that Tinubu's gesture to the players was tantamount to spending Nigeria's commonwealth with reckless abandon.
He shared on X, "Dear @aonanuga1956,
"I believe that the Super Falcons and indeed any other team or individuals who have made Nigeria proud deserve to be rewarded. That's a no-brainer.
"However, the comparison to Multichoice paying N150 million to winners of BBNaija is misplaced. Multichoice is spending private money generated from its business operations, while Tinubu is spending from our commonwealth. Even the fish that lives inside of bodies of water does not consume water with reckless abandon."
