Laolu Akande, a former media aide to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has criticised opposition parties for seeking to oust President Bola Tinubu without presenting a manifesto.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday morning, Akande said the opposition coalition’s focus was limited to removing Tinubu, with no policies or plans for Nigerians.
"I think APC has better arrangements. The opposition has allowed a narrative that they just want to remove Tinubu without presenting any viable alternative," Akande said.
Akande criticised the opposition for lacking cohesion and a distinct political identity, noting that it has yet to present a manifesto or explain how its approach would differ.
He cautioned Nigerians against backing familiar political figures under a new banner, arguing that the opposition needs fresh leadership rather than a lineup dominated by established politicians.
He said the movement’s lack of unity and a clear platform could give the APC an advantage in the 2027 election.
Akande singled out Omoyele Sowore for introducing new ideas, while criticising other opposition figures for repeating calls for Tinubu to leave office without outlining an alternative plan.
