Tinubu in trouble as court receives fresh suit to suspend May 29 inauguration

President-elect Bola Tinubu has been faced with a problem following a suit an Abuja Court of Appeal received that prevents the May 29 inauguration from taking place.

The former presidential candidate of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) in the 2019 election filed a suit with the marked number CA/CV/259/2023, to stop the swearing-in ceremony from happening.

The plaintiff joined President Muhammadu Buhari; Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice; and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respondents in the motion.

Ambrose Owuru, who is also a legal practitioner prayed the court to stop President Muhammadu Buhari, the AGF and INEC from proceeding with the May 29 inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

According to Owuru, he is the actual winner of the 2019 election and had not spent his 4 years tenure.

In his petition, Owuru claimed that President Buhari has been illegally using his tenure in office since 2019 since the Supreme Court failure to give a verdict on the petition he filed in 2019, where he had challenged the purported declaration of Buhari as the winner of the election.

He also supported his motion with an 8-paragraph affidavit, asking the appeal court for an expeditious hearing before Tinubu would be inaugurated.
