A United States lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has accused President Bola Tinubu of spending millions of dollars to ensure that his drug trafficking records are never released.

The firm made this allegation in a post on its verified X handle late Tuesday.

This followed the FBI's revelation to a court that releasing Tinubu's records might jeopardise its investigations into other matters and also risk lives.

The firm dismissed Tinubu's claim that his case with the FBI was just a civil matter, saying the FBI and DEA do not investigate civil cases and do not ask judges for sensitive private viewing.

On claims that Tinubu is not trying to stop the release of the drug-trafficking documents, the firm said the President petitioned the court, and consulted with the FBI and DEA to stop the release of the documents.

“Despite claiming innocence, Tinubu has spent millions of dollars to ensure that his drug trafficking records are never released.

“The description of the underlying matter is merely a civil case. The involvement of US law-enforcement agencies in the records dispute demonstrated that the matter involved sensitive investigative material,” the firm said.
