The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, on Sunday, said the actions and performance of President Bola Tinubu in the last 34 months in office have shown that he is the right person to lead Nigeria beyond 2027.

The APC, in a congratulatory message to the President on his 74th birthday, said, “He (Tinubu) has demonstrated the capacity, competence, and character required to fix the country and set it on the path of greatness, stability, and prosperity.”

This was contained in a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, in Ibadan, the state capital.

The party reiterated its commitment to the second-term project and the full realisation of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The APC also felicitated the national leadership of the party on the success of the National Convention in Abuja, which climaxed the party’s circle of congresses for 2026.

“An average Nigerian appreciates the fact that President Tinubu deserves to be celebrated for rekindling the hope of a stronger, better, and more promising Nigeria, but we chose not to roll out the drums in celebration of Mr President’s birthday in compliance with his directive, considering the current mood of the nation.

“However, we are proud of him as a courageous, passionate, and result-oriented leader who means well for Nigeria and Nigerians,” the APC said.

In another development, the party reiterated that members of the public, including its members and supporters, should discountenance the rumour making the rounds about the emergence of the party’s candidates for the 2027 general election, warning those behind it to desist or be prepared to face the consequences if caught.

“Just a few days ago, we had cause to dispel the unfounded rumour about the emergence of a gubernatorial candidate for our party in the state for the next general election and, unfortunately, it appears that the sponsors of that malicious story have not realised the negative implications of their actions, as they may come up with more dangerous antics aimed at causing panic and confusion in the system.

“As a matter of fact, the leadership of our great party has launched an investigation into those behind the circulation of a fresh list of purported Oyo APC candidates, which surfaced on social media a few hours ago, and we can assure our teeming members and supporters that the list is not only fake but also deceptive and provocative.

“As it stands now, we do not have any aspirant or candidate list for 2027 because it is not yet time for the expression of interest, nomination, and party primaries,” Sadare added.
