Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has said presidents are not supernatural beings that cannot and must not misstep.
Sani said this after a viral video showed the moment President Bola Tinubu missed a step and fell during his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
He said on X, "The Problem is not about the President’s misstep: the problem is with the people who think a president should be a supernatural being who should not, cannot or must not misstep."
Meanwhile, the Presidency has said President Tinubu didn't fall in Turkey but only stumbled when he missed his step.
A video surfaced on Tuesday showing the incident during Tinubu's State Visit to Turkey.
Despite many regarding the incident as a fall, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described it as just a stumble.
But Onanuga said the President merely stepped on an object, resulting in a minor loss of balance.
“The President stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance,” Onanuga said.
“This is not a big deal, except for those who want to make mischief out of a fleeting incident. It was a mere stumble, thank God, not a fall,” he added.
