A former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Deputy National Chairman, Chief Olabode George has emphasized that President Tinubu Bola and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have the opportunity to engage in discussions with the leaders of the Niger coup.

George conveyed this viewpoint during an interview with Arise Television.

He suggested that the ongoing turmoil in francophone nations stemmed from the historical French approach to colonialism, contrasting it with British colonies.

He drew attention to the French practice of retaining influence in their former colonies.

George also drew from the lessons of Nigeria's involvement in ECOMOG and advised against hasty military actions.

He urged caution, citing the prolonged Ukraine-Russia conflict as an example.

George cautioned that entering into military conflict with Niger could have grave consequences, including the risk of ECOWAS's collapse.

He cautioned against starting a war that couldn't be successfully concluded and questioned the benefits of intervening in Niger's situation.

He had previously written to President Tinubu, urging diplomatic solutions over military actions.
