Youths in Damaturu, Yobe State have taken the lead in protesting against bad governance in Nigeria.

In a video circulating on social media, northern youths were seen vandalising billboards featuring the faces of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni.

Several youths stormed the streets, climbed the giant billboards and tore down the posters.

This incident occurred as President Tinubu, represented by VP Kashim Shettima, launched an agricultural empowerment scheme in the state on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

This government initiative includes the provision of agricultural machinery and implements and is part of a broader national strategy to revolutionise Nigeria's agricultural sector.

Nigerian youths have earlier announced a nationwide protest scheduled to begin at the end of July and continue through August.

The protest, named #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria aims to demand government action to address various issues in the country.

Among the problems listed are failed economic policies, corruption, insecurity, inflation, high food costs, and increased fuel prices.

In response to the destruction of the billboards in Yobe, Nigerians have taken to social media to share their thoughts.
