Throwback video of Nigerians celebrating Buhari's victory 8 years ago

An old video of Nigerians jubilating as Muhammadu Buhari was declared winner of the 2015 presidential election has surfaced.

Eight years ago, Buhari contested the presidential election with Yemi Osinbajo as his running mate under the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Buhari who was the opposition candidate beat incumbent Goodluck Jonathan, by more than 2.5 million votes.

After the declaration, Nigerians stormed the streets in excitement to celebrate Buhari’s victory as a democratically elected president of the most populous country in Africa.

Residents were seen dancing and jumping in excitement at the election results with the believe that Buhari will change the economy and restore hope to the nation.

In an interview, a man said, “Everybody is jubilating, It has been announced that APC has won the presidential election. So, what we need from the president now is change. The masses are suffering. That is the only thing we need from him."

A woman said; “We are out on the streets because we are happy. We need change in Nigeria. A lot of things have been happening in Nigeria, we are not happy, and a lot of our kids have been killed, our kids don’t have jobs. We want change in the country.”

“The General Buhari has ruled this country before between ’83 and 84’ as a military ruler, and then we know what he did, and we are very optimistic that this time around he will do more that. We are very hopeful,” another man noted.

The video which resurfaced has caused a stir among Nigerians who did not hesitate to share their disappointment at the Buhari’s administration after 8 years in power.

From the video, you can see a big difference between 2015 and 2023 elections. The announcement of BAT's 'victory' didn't not ignite any celebrations. In fact, the reverse was true. The country was like a grave yard

@flakkyBanky: God, I still haven’t forgiven myself for supporting such failure in 2015. Thank God I retracted in the same year once I saw I made a huge mistake.
