Throwback of currency exchange in 1983

Compared to 2023, where the Naira is almost going at a thousand to one United States Dollar, forty years ago in 1983, the case was absolutely different.

Im September 26, 1983, Nigeria was a democracy under President Shehu Shagari but the currency exchange rate was favourable even though Nigerians complained then that times were tough.

This a full three months before a military putsch sacked the Shagari administration and put in place led by Major Generals Muhammadu Buhari and Babatunde Idiagbon.

Many Nigerians have called for the Naira to go back to the days it was at part with the US Dollar all to no avail.
