Three poly students die in tricycle accident

Five people lost their lives through a road accident in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The accident involving three students of the state's polytechnic occurred on Monday around 12 noon along Issele-Azagba-Ogwashi-Uku Road, Punch Metro said.

Sources close to the incident said that the three students, who were inside a tricycle, died after the tricycle had a head-on collision with a Toyota Camry.

“The two occupants of the Toyota Camry also died in the ghastly motor accident. The two female victims were HND students from the Mass Communications Department of the polytechnic, while we have yet to get the identity of the male student,” the source added.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said the command was not aware of the accident.

But the Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corp, Delta State Command, Mr. Bakare Adesina, said he saw the crash, but the command was not notified about it.
