Thousands of Kano residents protest against court ruling that sacked Gov Abba Kabir Yusuf

Thousands of kano state residents took to the streets to protest the court ruling that sacked Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party as Governor.

On Wednesday, September 20, the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sacked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as the winner of the March 18 election.

The three-man panel, after hearing the petitions, ordered the withdrawal of the certificate of return which INEC presented to Yusuf and directed a certificate of return to be issued to Gawuna.

Displeased by the verdict, residents from the 44 local government areas of the stateto protest.

In a video making rounds, the residents were heard chanting and holding placards which says they cannot accept the ruling as they voted for Abba and not the APC candidate, Gawuna.

Abba on his part has vowed to appeal the ruling at the Supreme Court.
