Isaac Fayose, a social commentator, has lamented the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission's inability to provide Lekki residents with stable electricity despite being on the exclusive Band A tariff.

He made this known in a video he shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, October 30.

He said some parts of Lekki have been without electricity for more than three days despite paying N225 per kilowatt-hour (KW/h), a significant rise from the previous rate of N66.

According to Musliu Oseni, the Vice Chairman of NERC, Band A customers will receive 20-24 hours of electricity supply daily.

Fayose said: "We are Band A here in Lekki, but I've been using diesel for the past three days. How can we be Band A? Here, we have a lot of people. You can hear the generator. The generator talks. Ah ah, Governor Sanwo-Olu, you should worry about these electricity people. This is wrong. They need to give us light."

"Band A, no light for four days now. Band A, Lekki is suffering. And Lekki is dirty. Now that we have local government autonomy, who is our local government chairman in Lekki? Lekki needs attention, and we are the ones paying the tax. Lekki people are the ones paying the tax. I've been running diesel for how many days?"

"No light for Lekki, how can you call Lekki Band A? Lekki is supposed to be Band Q, not Band A. No, they are cheating us, we don't have light in Lekki. Lekki is dirty. Governor Sanwo-Olu, please work on Ibeju Lekki chairman."

According to NERC, subscribers under Band B enjoy 16 to 20 hours of power supply, while those in Band C receive 12 to 16 hours daily.

Band D subscribers benefit from eight to 12 hours of power supply each day, and Band E subscribers only receive four to eight hours of electricity supply daily.
